Get Out of My Head

Sesmu is the ancient Egyptian demonic god of execution, slaughter, blood, oil, wine and perfume. Like many of the gods of Ancient Egypt, Sesmu was of a complex nature. He had qualities of both light and darkness, but this was not the reason that he was known as a 'demon'. To the Egyptians, demons were not necessarily evil in nature. Often they were quite helpful. Instead, the term 'demon' was given to Sesmu because he was one of the lesser deities, and due to his relation to the underworld. Sesmu followed the commands of The God of The Dead, and therefore was sometimes given the title ‘Slaughterer of Souls’. He initially seems to be a fierce underworld deity, but Sesmu was quite helpful to the dead.

I wrote this a month ago when Matt was in town and we were doing our lets be in a relationship thing. It still applies I think.

Suddenly I wanted nothing more of this wretched town. I didn’t even want the warmth of my familiar home. I no longer want all of the plazas and the cute little restaurants with their overpriced dinner plates, and all the gas stations, and oh all the cars. So many cars, but no one had anywhere real to go. All the plastic people just drive around in their plastic cars and look at the plastic trees, with their plastic dogs, and children, and husbands and wives. I wanted to be away from the charming cul-de-sacs, and the two story houses with the front doors always unlocked and the garages open and their houses overflowing with trust for all the plastic strangers. I wanted to go somewhere that I can’t walk around at night without being afraid, and seeing real people on the sidewalk and thinking about how wonderful their lives must be and all the places they will go, and all the people they will see. I wanted to be away from my sweetheart and all their forevers and all their roses and flowers and kisses and their beautiful plastic life they have planned for us. I wanted freedom. And so I am here. In a new city, a new place. Without a home, without a life. But surrounded by human flesh, and flashing lights.
